A failure is not the end for a company or a plate model necessarily. If a plate is penetrated then the company will be notified, and a public notice will be published by the NIJ stating the certification is suspended. From here the company has the opportunity to review their manufacturing process with NIJ to investigate the nature of the failure, and correct the cause(s). The company can then determine if they would like to re-test after fixing the issues, otherwise the plate will receive a decertification.

It’s good to know you guys take this stuff seriously, as I do have some of your plates 3+ AR600 (I wonder why they haven’t expanded their tests to include a certification between 3 and 4 as they have A’s for others?)
